Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 10 - Shooting / Detailing

28/Mar  Today, me and John had free time at the same time. But Ruguosier was having a class at that time. So me and John confirmed and checked the locations for the study area. We were thinking to use a library or cafeteria, but we made the shoot for scene 6, Grace's scene, and it looked good, so we decided to use them as a sample or the actual film video. I was also suggesting including the slow clock ticking sound for shot 6 to show how Grace got bored and how the time felt so slow to her. We also took scene 2, the school campus scene. Kids were playing, and Grace walked behind them intentionally. This scene will continue to the next scene with Grace walking on the school campus or corridor. And we also heard that Ruguosier is leaving us on April 2 for his visa run. Scene 2 Scene 6 29/Mar Today, we cast a different actress in Olivia's role. Because Olivia's character was very sick and could not come to school for 2–3 days, Even our media studies teacher suggested we chang...

Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 9 - Shot list

Image
23/Mar We have finished making the shot list today. We confirmed most of the parts last time. But there were so many things that we missed, so me and John added some details. I was mostly writing the rough notes on the shot list document, and John made the texts into the clear form of the sentence. I wrote almost all of the audio part. Because we have not thought about the audio parts before. And John confirmed and edited the description part. And we both clarified and looked through all the notes that we wrote. Ruguosier was not able to come and work at the same time as me and John. So he confirmed and rechecked our work after my and John's editing. This is our shot list:

Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 8 - Sampling / Location

15/Mar We tried to find the location at school for confirmed shots. We searched for scene 3 location. Made some samples of it. We shoot so many times in different location. And we were thinking about the graphic cuts for scene 6 as well. We also had a look for establishing shot for scene 2. But we decided to find it for tomorrow and we focused on the Scene 3 place.  scene 3 samples. (there's more but these are the most better samples) 16/Mar Today we made some samples for our shots. And confirmed some of the locations and tried to act and see how our film is going to flow as making samples. We also made a shot list and arranged what we needed and what we planned. We tried with phone camera. Grace - John Olivia - Ruguosier Camera shooting - Seo Yun Our final shooting's camera shooter will be Ruguosier . But I was holding the camera for the other samples to make sure Ruguosier  get what the shot angle needs to be and will be. Also by shooting them, we could see how we shoul...

Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 7 - Characters detailing / Intention / Detailing

06/Mar The teacher helped outline the storyline and advised us to add more details to it. We decided to make the shots differently. Because one that we were making was similar to a music video rather than the film opening that we’re doing. So this is what we confirmed and wrote for our discussion. We wrote this together in class: Theme of the movie: "Through God, anything can be forgiven." Grace Audience: Teens (14–18 schoolgoers) Distribution: YouTube and other social media Emotions to be conveyed: grief, regret, anger, loss; troubled but happy at the start. Mise en scène (look, tone, style, and feel): warm lighting, warm colors, more people around her when she is happy (white, orange, and yellow), sunny weather, lots of movement, more wide angles, more shots, more fast-paced while she is happy Acting: Grace will be seen She is an introvert, and she doesn't talk much until she gets to know Olivia, and Olivia is the catalyst that makes her more of an extrovert. When Grac...

Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 6 - Storyline / Storyboard / Intention

Image
27/Feb Today, we discussed how we will fit scenes between storyboard scenes 1 and 2. We had some ideas, which are: orange mart scene (a mart whose name is orange; let us just use the word orange for orange mart scenes): protagonist hanging out with her best friend after school setting (This can lead to the next scene 2 after this—going back home scene—street scene), as a brief idea. The protagonist and her best friend are in the classroom (year 12, which is our classroom), chilling together and watching Netflix or studying. cozy mood on the pillow of the scene. Some more scenes of the protagonist in the corridor just above the sports court, beside the computer lab Important point of today: we can take as many 'memory scenes' as possible, omit some, and add when we need them. We will need to edit later in the post-production stage if we have extra scenes. 01/Mar   Today, we finalized our storyboard. We got 16 scenes for total. But we need to discuss about the exact angle and cam...
