Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 5 - Storyboard / Storyline / Intention / Casting

Image
20/Feb Today we separate some parts, which are audience (John), intention (Ruguosier), and storyline (Seo Yun). Of course, everyone will share what they are writing, and everyone will participate in each section. But the person we chose is a person who got the most responsibility in their section. We added details in Scene 2. We need a selfie stick for the equipment because we're going to let the protagonist and her friend take a selfie on the street, and the camera will record that part. So for the scene, the camera will move towards the characters and pass between them (separately or to represent their friendship). After the camera passes between them, it will flip (whip pan), and we'll change the location with the graphic cut. This is what I wanted to show by using whip pan: I have asked Carol (a classmate who reacted positively to being a character in our film and is also an extrovert) about being a character in our film. As long as she shows a positive reaction, we will c...

Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 4 - Scenes

15/Feb Today we discussed so many things that we used almost 3 hours to figure out how to start the film. We flipped almost everything from what we were going to do. But the intention and purpose of our film did not change. We made scenes 1–8, which was a great procession for us. A short description of the storyline that we discuss is that: 1. Black screen with white text (title) 2. The protagonist and her friend are walking on the street. 3. A graphic match to change the location by flipping the camera to the side 4. Walk through the school corridor. 5. Classroom scene (one empty place that is the seat of the protagonist) 6. Closing book scene (graphic match to switch the location from school to house) 7. The protagonist walks to her bed after she finishes closing the book, which was used by the graphic match previously. It will be showing symbolic material, such as pictures and letters. (which conveys the symbolic meaning of the protagonist and her best friend) to show the prota...

Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 3 - Storyline / Casting / Detailing

06/Feb  Today, we were searching around the internet to find editing software and a free sound website. We visited a free sound effect website, which is https://www.epidemicsound.com/. Our media study teacher told us that it would be helpful to find the sound in it, so we went into this website and found some free music, tried some ways to download it, and searched for different kinds of music. When we found music, we tried to put it out on the editing software that we might use for final production, 'Adobe Premiere Pro'. We tried some transitions (dissolve) and practiced some editing skills. We also decided how we are going to pay for 'Adobe Premiere Pro (all of us) and who's laptop we are going to use (we are using  Ruguosier 's  laptop), because in this country we cannot share any accounts due to the copyright and usage laws issues. It was good to try them out and discuss everything that we need for the editing part in the last part. Also, we ask ourselves a ques...

Media Studies (Film Opening) Week 2 - Storyline / Audience

30/Jan   Today, we discussed the final genre and storyline. We finalized our genre today.  Genre- Slice of Life and Teen (CONFIRMED)         - Historical fiction mood? (Christ) Then after finalizing the genre, we came up with a rough draft for our storyline.  Storyline- The protagonist loses someone that he/she loved and he/she regrets something. And loses control over himself/herself and (hear a Christian church)/ or he/she finds the love of Christ and slowly recovers from his/her brokenness and….. (putting symbolistic things of God?) Maybe there will be a symbolic object? (not confirmed) back & forth like a bookend so that the film opening can flow naturally & give the overall idea of how the film will be continued.  We also watched many film opening sequences and media studies as/a level film opening. We compared them and we made some ideas which are written in the previous paragraph. And got much interest in the videos that we wat...
